bdrop moves text and links between your devices at bdrop.cc. It is made and run by one person: me, Matias Barragan. This page says what bdrop keeps about you and how to remove it. If something here is unclear, write to mati@barragan.com.py.
What you drop
Moving something to another device means it has to pass through a server, so what you send is stored while the drop lives. The text of each message, the time it was sent and the name of the device that sent it are kept in one Cloudflare Durable Object, named by the drop's six-character code. Files are kept in Tigris object storage under the same code, with their name, size and type. Anyone who has the code can read the drop and change it.
A drop is deleted for good when its time runs out: 10 minutes, 1 hour or 1 day, as you choose. Its files go with it. You can delete one message or file, or clear the whole drop, before then. I keep no copy and there is no backup.
In your browser
bdrop remembers your current code until the drop expires, so a reload brings you back to it. It also keeps a random id for this browser, so the chat knows which messages are yours, the device name if you changed it, and whether you chose light or dark. Clearing the browser's site data removes both.
Limits and reports
To stop people from scanning for codes or flooding the service, bdrop counts how many drops are opened and started from each IP address per hour. The counter is filed under a one-way hash of the address and holds only the count. If you report a drop, the report, the first 200 characters of the newest message and the names of its stored files go into the server log so I can review it. A reported drop stops showing its files.
Cloudflare runs the drops, Tigris stores the files and Vercel hosts the pages. Like any web host they receive your IP address and the pages you open.
What I don't do
No analytics or tracking cookies, and no ads. I never sell or share your data. How bdrop makes money is on the Trust page.
Changes
If this page changes in a way that matters, the date above changes and bdrop will say so.
